After being around for little over half a decade, it is finally the time for a new Focus. While so far Ford didn’t really say much about the upcoming model, spy shots have been around for a while. Photographers already managed to take a good look at the upcoming model and the best part is the fact that they seen the car without any camouflage a short while ago. This was only covered by a vinyl sheet and nothing else which is quite a strange thing to happen. Thanks to that we now have a pretty good idea about the upcoming 2019 Ford Focus Sedan and how the car is going to look like. While the specifics are still unknown, there are plenty of known things about it, so let’s take a better look at it.
In detail
Unlike its predecessor, which used a relatively old architecture, the new Focus is likely going to make use of Ford’s new modular CD4 platform. This also underpins the Fusion where it has proved to be quite impressive. The one underpinning the Focus will be slightly more different though.

The car is expected to be narrower than the Fusion and it should also feature a shorter wheelbase too. However, it will be roughly as tall, which will mean more interior space. Thanks to the new platform the new 2019 Ford Focus sedan should be quite a bit better to drive too. The big drawback of the new platform would be the available engines, but more on that a bit later.
Release Date and Price
Considering the prototype we have seen a short while ago looked pretty much complete, it is safe to assume the production version is not far. From most rumors it looks like the new car will hit the market in the early 2018 but Ford should reveal it in the first couple of weeks of January. Its price shouldn’t change much over what is currently available with the base model coming in at around $18,000.
The design
One of the most striking things about the new Focus has to be its roof-line. While the current car features a three-box design which is getting old, the new one is nothing alike. Instead, the car looks a lot more like the Mazda 3, only better.

The roof has a coupe-like arch, the rear end is quite long and wide while the front is definitely lower than on its competitors. The end result is a car that looks like a four-door coupe which is not an easy feat to achieve, especially in this class. The grille is mounted lower and it is wider while the new headlights and fog-lamps make the Focus considerably better to look at than before.
The interior
The cabin of the 2019 Ford Focus Sedan changed quite a bit as well. In comparison with its predecessor, the car will now feature a more conservative look which should allow it to be easier to use.

The easiest way to describe it would be to say the car looks like a more upmarket Fiesta which is not far from the truth. The center stack is cleaner, the infotainment system is larger and mounted higher while the new instrument cluster will also feature a fully digital option too.
2019 Ford Focus Sedan Specs
Most rumors seem to suggest the base version of the 2019 Ford Focus Sedan will stick with a 2.0 liter naturally aspirated mill. This would provide 160 horsepower while offering average fuel economy for its class. Some suggested that Ford may ditch this engine altogether. In its place we can expect a new 1.0 liter turbo-three which should be able to offer around 140 horsepower and over 160 lb-ft of torque. Higher up the range the new Focus should come equipped with a 1.5 liter turbo-three with up to 200 horsepower. Both of these will be available with front wheel drive only and a 6 speed manual or a 9 speed automatic. An ST version will definitely be an option later down the road. This one should make use of a 2.0 liter turbo-four. While the specifics are unknown, we can expect over 260 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the others, this one should boast front wheel drive, a limited slip differential and a quick-shift 6 speed manual gearbox.
